Murder Mystery Puzzler Detective VR Available Now For PC VR & PlayStation VR2

Murder mystery puzzle game Detective VR launched on SteamVR and PlayStation VR2 this week with hand tracking support for the latter.

Hand tracking support is a rarity for a PS VR2 title and, having played the game myself, I found that the investigatory gameplay works well without controllers. In Detective VR, you search crime scenes for clues and photograph them with a pinch-and-pull gesture, interview witnesses, and use an interactive murder board to put your case together and find the culprit. There's also a meta-level mechanic where you "put on a pair of VR glasses" to reconstruct the crime scene.

We reviewed the game on Quest last year, saying "while there's room for improvement with the gameplay, it's an impressive effort from Studio Chipo y Juan that's a delight to play, with so much room for more to come."

With the new platforms not having a mixed reality focus like Meta's Quest 3, developer Chipo y Juan wisely added immersive environments for more traditional VR gameplay, though the core mechanics remain unchanged. A patch has already been issued to address some early reports of issues with locomotion and hand tracking.
